Sangam Symphony is a new series of term books based on the Tamil Nadu Matriculation Syllabus that incorporates General Knowledge and Computer Science in addition to the core subjects of English, Mathematics, EVS, Science and Social Studies. This set of 15 books is patterned as follows:

  1. Sangam Symphony Class 1, 2; Terms 1-3 consisting of English, Mathematics, Environmental Studies and General Knowledge.
  2. Sangam Symphony Class 3-5; Terms 1-3 consisting of English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Social Studies, Computer Science and General Knowledge.

The ELT in Sangam Symphony aims at integrating linguistic knowledge and skills into communicative strategies for real-life situations, through activity-based methods such as role-play, pair work and group work. It also emphasizes on developing study skills, creative skills and interpersonal skills, as specified in the syllabus.

Mathematics follows a step-by-step approach, emphasizing concepts and skills. It includes Maths Lab Activities, which help to reinforce concepts and increase interest level.

EVS, Science and Social Studies focus on understanding rather than merely providing information, Features such as Mind Openers and Just for Fun stimulate the thinking of the child and increase involvement and participation.

General Knowledge aims at completeness in the information providing by giving related and background material in each topic. Internet sites encourage the children to find out for themselves.

The Computer Science follows a hands-on approach. Children learn to use application software by working on an example that takes them through the commands one by one, rather than by defining all commands first.

Abha Sahgal was Founder Principal of Delhi Public School, Sharjah. Thereafter, she was invited to be the Principal of Sanskriti School (New Delhi) which she ably steered for several years. Ms Sahgal had more than 30 years of teaching experience, having started her career in Delhi Public School, RK Puram (Delhi), before moving as Headmistress to Delhi Public School, Vasant Vihar, also in New Delhi. Abha Sahgal authored and co-authored several books to critical acclaim.
