English for Nurses is a sourcebook for nurses who aim to complete for nursing jobs abroad. The authors, Margarita Platt and Angela Langridge, are qualified linguists and teachers with extensive experience in the training of overseas nursing students in England and Argentina. The book is structured in a way that, even with no previous knowledge in English, the learners can be trained to understand and acquire requisite levels of expertise in communication. The structured lessons, specialist vocabulary, practice sections on grammatical structures through speaking and listening, along with written exercises and glossary, help build a strong base in English. The objectives of each lesson, which are clearly stated at the beginning of the lesson, ensure better comprehension of the text that follows. The select material engages all the key skills; listening, reading, speaking and writing, to ensure that nurses will successfully develop social and professional communication skills in English.

Margarita Platt is a co-director of language schools in England and Argentina. She is a qualified linguist and has been a teacher and a teacher-trainer for forty years in the UK and abroad. She is also the author of Speak and Learn language learning system for the teaching of the main European languages.

The late Angela Langridge was also a qualified linguist (with a degree in Latin, Greek and Linguistics). A teacher with thirty years experience she had worked with both children and adults. She is the author and editor of ELT packages of many countries (especially in Africa and in the Middle East), author of teacher-training material and was employed as a training consultant for educational bodies of Britain. Both the authors have trained overseas nursing students.
