Voyager—The Orient BlackSwan Semester Books is a set of 10 books for Classes 1 to 5. The package has:

  • For Classes 1, 2: English, Mathematics and Environmental Studies.
  • For Classes 3 – 5: English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.

The English language teaching material in this book has been taken from English Junction—a Communicative Course in English. The courses is in line with NCF 2005 with a clear, graded syllabus for language skill development, literary appreciation and teaching concepts in grammar and vocabulary with focus on research, life skills and thinking skills.

The Mathematics material comes from I Can Maths. It helps students to build to conceptual understanding along with the ability to think, reason and apply. Concepts are developed through Maths Lab Activity and operational skills are sharpened through Exercises without overloading the student.

EVS in Books 1, 2 has the material from Green Tree. It views environmental science more holistically, integrating elements of both science and social studies, as advocated by NCERT guidelines.

The Science section in books 3-5 is taken from Excel in Science 3-5. It opens the world of science for children to explore and discover. The series places strong emphasis on the scientific method and hands-on learning.

The Social Studies portion is taken from Success with GettingAhead in Social Studies. It is the CCE edition of the popular GettingAhead in Social Studies series.

Abha Sahgal was Founder Principal of Delhi Public School, Sharjah. Thereafter, she was invited to be the Principal of Sanskriti School (New Delhi) which she ably steered for several years. Ms Sahgal had more than 30 years of teaching experience, having started her career in Delhi Public School, RK Puram (Delhi), before moving as Headmistress to Delhi Public School, Vasant Vihar, also in New Delhi. Abha Sahgal authored and co-authored several books to critical acclaim.
