The book contains two essays by Tridip Suhrud. The first, ‘Simplicity and Purity’, examines Gandhi’s relationship with the Gujarati language. The second essay, ‘Reading Gandhi in Two Tongues’ suggests Gandhi was a bilingual thinker and writer, and it is enriching to explore his modes of thoughts through two tongues.
Tridip Suhrud is Professor and Provost of CEPT University and Director of Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Institute of Indology. He is currently working on a multi-volume compendium on the testimonies of the indigo cultivators of Champaran.
