The series Obstetrics and Gynecology in Perspective has grown out of the need of practicing consultants and postgraduate students for reference material, which addresses recent knowledge on subjects of critical interest. The volumes draw on the work of specialists. They aim to offer a review of recent literature and clinical procedures, and evaluation of the technology and management, and an indication of the directions in which the research is moving.
Medical disorders in pregnancy continue to jeopardise maternal and fetal wellbeing in both developed and developing countries. They are now the commonest causes of obstetric morbidity and mortality. These disorders often need interventional help from many other specialties. This volume, Obstetric Medicine, is based upon such interfacing and networking, with valuable inputs from specialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, hematology, immunology, nephrology, neurology and respiratory medicine. This volume brings together the experience of specialists from across the world.
