S Trymbaka Murthy was formerly a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sir M. Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology, Bengaluru. Prior to VTU, he taught at Siddaganga Institute of Technology, Tumkur.

Professor Murthy has four decades of teaching experience. In addition to this book, he has authored Computer-Aided Engineering Drawing, the fourth edition of which was published by Universities Press in 2014.
